Calgary, AB – May 6, 2025 – The Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB) has completed a carbon footprint data research project in partnership with MNP, examining how financial information that beef producers already collect could be used to support greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions estimations.
The work arose from growing interest from supply chains, financial institutions, and other stakeholders in understanding on-farm emissions, while recognizing the importance of keeping data requests manageable for producers. Rather than calculating full farm-level carbon footprints, the project set out to determine what emissions information can reasonably be estimated using data producers already have, where gaps exist, and what steps could improve emissions reporting over time.
