Scientific Advisory Committee

Role

The Scientific Advisory Committee provides scientific analysis, advice and supporting information regarding beef sustainability to the CRSB.  The Committee has two main responsibilities, as outlined below.

Oversee CRSB’s research priorities and the National Beef Sustainability Assessment (NBSA), including:

  • Communicate research priorities related to the NBSA to researchers
  • Provide a Canadian perspective to Livestock Life Cycle Assessment methodologies developed by the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO)’s LEAP initiative
  • Represent beef on Canadian Agri-food Life Cycle Data Centre Steering Committee
  • Monitor industry surveys and providing feedback on questionnaires related to the NBSA

Oversee the CRSB Projects Pillar

  • Maintain a Letters of Support policy
  • Build a repository of sustainability projects that track initiatives contributing to the National Beef Sustainability Strategy goals and research priorities
  • Coordinate with the CRSB Communications and Marketing Committee to communicate about sustainability projects
