Manitoba Beef and Forage Initiatives (MBFI) is a partnership between Manitoba Agriculture, Manitoba Beef Producers, Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association. As a critical piece to three MBFI research and demonstration sites at Brookdale Farm, First Street Pasture and Johnson Farm, the new MBFI Learning Centre will allow Manitoba and Western Canada agricultural producers and the general public to learn with and from producers, researchers, experts on the subjects of forage and livestock production and innovation.

Goals:

Goal #9:Increase the financial viability of beef production in Canada

Goal #10: Increase demand for Canadian beef though consumer awareness of sustainable beef production

Indicators Addressed:

Depending on the topic, these demonstration sites  may touch on all of the Certified Sustainable Beef (CSB) indicators. However, most production practices have the underlying goal of improving producer financial viability. Further, these facilities  aim to educate the public to improve consumer awareness of sustainably produced beef in Canada.

Communication Tools:

DUC communications and marketing staff sit on a broader communications committee made up of representation from all partners to promote the initiative regularly to producers, the public and industry in Manitoba through media releases, earned media, print and radio advertising, postcard mail drops, social media, digital marketing, partner relations, tradeshow/event attendance, tours and by using internal communications tools such as partner websites, magazines, e-newsletter distribution, and annual reporting. Further, MBFI releases regular promotional media with regard to events and projects through their website; www.mbfi.ca, as well as newsletters and social media.
